Where does a football girdle go?
It goes under the outer football pants.
- Some girdles have pad pockets.
- Some have pads built in.
- Plain compression shorts are not the same thing.
Ask your coach or equipment manager which setup your team needs.

Five pads or seven pads?
| Type | Common coverage | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Five-pad | Hips, thighs and tailbone | How will knee coverage be handled? |
| Seven-pad | Adds knee pads | Does this setup fit the outer pants? |
Check the exact model. A photo or product name does not prove it meets your league’s rules.

Check the fit with the full kit
- Use the size chart for this model.
- Measure the way the maker says.
- Try it with the outer pants.
- Check that pads stay in the right place.
- Stop if it hurts, slips or blocks movement.
Do not cut pads or remove coverage to make the pants fit.
What about growing youth players?
Use current measurements. Do not buy a loose size just for future growth. Ask for model-specific fit advice.
Look before each use
| Look at | What to watch for |
|---|---|
| Waist and seams | Broken stitches or failed elastic |
| Pockets and pads | Tears, loose parts or damage |
| Size and position | Pads that move away from their intended place |
Let the equipment manager decide if damaged gear can be used. More washing will not fix it.

Follow the girdle’s care label
- Read the rules for this exact model.
- Remove pads only if the maker says to.
- Use the allowed wash and dry method.
- Check thick areas before storing it.

Plan outer teamwear separately
Spenix can discuss custom outer teamwear. This guide does not claim Spenix sells or certifies protective girdles.
- Get the gear setup approved first.
- Choose outer pants that work with it.
- Confirm jersey sizes and artwork.
Read the football size guide and artwork checklist.
Quick questions
Is a girdle the same as compression shorts?
No. Plain compression shorts do not automatically have football pads.
Are seven pads always better?
Choose the setup your equipment manager approves for your league and fit.
Can I wash it like a jersey?
Do not assume so. Padding and elastic can need different care.
Can I wear it with padded pants?
Have the full setup checked. Do not add extra pads without advice.
